Tyrese: ‘Sometimes I Wish I Was Born Latino’
On the eve of Black History Month, Tyrese Gibson took to social media to share that he “sometimes wishes he was born Latino.”
The singer and actor shared a video of a Latino family surprising their patriarch with a brand-new pickup truck as the entire family sobs with joy.
Tyrese went on to share how he has learned so much from the Latin community, the Jewish community, and the Muslim community.
But, he noted that he has “no idea” how the Black community “lost our way.”
Sometimes I wish I was born Latino….
I mean the Latin community is grounded in family, loyal, entrepreneurs, businessman, and women literally represent the dream, the grind the hustle doing whatever it takes to stick together against all odds.
If us is black culture was more grounded in these integral magical nuances of us we would be dominant….
I’ve learned a lot from the Jewish community sticking together eating dinner every Friday together.
I’ve learned a lot about the Muslim community throughout all my travels in the Middle East.
They have a father structure where they honor their fathers the Middle East the thinking in the mentality is that they would much rather have a son over a daughter because they know that there is nothing like the leadership of a FATHER and a man being the head of the household….
I have no idea how we lost our way… We can’t get anything done and accomplished, as a fragmented culture…. insecure, threatened by each other… Competitive towards our own race, killing ourselves every single day frivolously the majority of us is black men and the millions are locked up in prison.
Of course we ARE we are beyond powerful, influential and successful, but imagine if we all linked up like other communities have linked?
Poured and built up on each other Instead of moving like fragmented and dysfunctional….
We have what it TAKES to take over the WORLD!!! We are nothing trying to do it ALONE!! Please chime in….
Would love to know your thoughts on this….

As expected, reactions to Tyrese’s post were just what you would expect them to be.
Read a few comments below.
“The caption for this video was ridiculous.”
“Sorry, but you have to be the example you want to see. So, are you exemplifying those attributes?”
“That first sentence was where I stopped reading. That’s embarrassing being you’re career was build off the fact that you are a darker skin black man.”
“The self HATE on this post is real… if your family unit isn’t together or tight… Be the change in your own household 1st! I will never down my own people to prove a point nor say another culture of people are better than ours… People always point out some of the negative things in the black community, with absolutely no purpose and put others on a pedestal….”
In other Tyrese news…his ex-wife Samantha Lee Gibson has filed legal documents to find him in contempt for failing to pay his court-ordered child support for their 4-year-old daughter, Soraya Gibson.
The “Sweet Lady” singer paid less than the required child support amount in December 2023 and January 2024.
Perhaps Tyrese should sweep his doorstep before pointing at the Black community as a whole.
